Saturn Retrograde ~ Move Forward Even as the Karma Planet Turns Back

Saturn is turning retrograde, moving backward through Sagittarius and even into Scorpio, from March 14 to August 2, 2015. This planet of order's retrograde period is a time to cultivate discipline, patience, and self-restraint.

When faster-moving planets like Mercury or Mars go retrograde, confusion typically reigns. But that's not necessarily so with slower moving planets. Saturn Retrograde may actually help us see things clearer by shifting our focus from the external to the internal, which  may even empower us to move forward!

Saturn's Role In Our World

Strict Saturn is infamous for keeping other planets and zodiac signs in check, and in this way it helps remind us all of our own limitations. As the "karma planet," Saturn tells us what we are and are not allowed to do, and what society expects from us.

When strict Saturn is direct, it can be a bit of a buzzkill. But in retrograde Saturn gives us an opportunity to look over our personal set of rules. We have the chance to see what kind of internal and emotional factors motivate us . . . . including fear.

Saturn in reverse means that the external boundaries we live within take a backseat to our rich inner world. We will trust ourselves enough to question these boundaries, and because retrograde with any planet is a prime time to look back on our personal paths, we can examine failures and let-downs, learn from them, apply these lessons to how we'll conduct ourselves in the future . . . . then move on.

When Saturn goes direct again on August 2, we will stop feeling quite so free to play with our personal processes. Until then, self-awareness can be very healing and will ultimately make us more productive as a whole!

On Tuesday, Venus will enter her home sign of Taurus, where she remains until April 11. With Venus in Taurus, you can expect a welcome boost in using the practical side of Venus to your advantage. Financial decisions are favored, as well as any aspect of romance that connects to your sensual side.

March 5, 2015 ~ Full Moon (waning) ~ Maintaining concentration is challenging, even though the precision-oriented Virgo Moon sets the tone for the day. Although the exacting Virgo Full Moon at 1:05 pm EST encourages practicality, it tensely opposes the imaginative Pisces Sun. It's just as easy to float off into fantasies as it is to focus on our goals since the energy is complicated by aspects to Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto. Our dreams may run wild so it's wise to act with caution.

A veil of self-absorption is lifted and suddenly you gain access to an unbiased view of others. This is a rare moment when you can see yourself objectively and become aware of whether or not what you want in your heart is actually beginning to manifest in your life. Traditionally, the Full Moon phase stirs emotion, and this is because when you "see" what is happening, you may become upset if you are experiencing the "same ol', same" rather than the things you would like. Intellectually, you know that ignoring whatever aggravating situation is in your face won't make it disappear. But you might still try to turn a blind eye to it for as long as possible because you convince yourself it's easier to ignore it than to tackle it.

Where do unhealthy escape patterns come from?

Of the more worrisome end of the spectrum, there's the escape artist who uses alcohol, drugs or another vice to distract you from unbearable human emotions. Escaping to a movie or a concert is one thing, but drowning your sorrows at the local bar every evening has much more dire consequences. Escaping to the fantasy world of your dreams is one thing, but teetering on the brink of insanity or checking out of this world through suffering of a mental illness is another thing entirely. 

Unhealthy escape patterns are the poisonous fumes of a short-circuited Neptune. I see it every single day as an astrologer, and also as a human being. Neptune, the planet that dissolves boundaries and allows us to connect to that divine spark, is also the planet that blurs our vision as we travel through life's more slippery roads. If you have Neptune making a tense aspect to a planet in your birth chart it can spiritualize you, but it can also morph you into a wobbly version of yourself by tricking you into thinking it's OK to erode the essential structures of this physical world your soul is forced to live in.

Neptune can delight you, but he can also fool you . . . . 

Neptune can teach us that anything is possible through unshakeable faith and unconditional love, but he can also fool us into believing the tales of trickery and deceit we tell ourselves each day in order to function without facing a cold, hard reality that might be too painful to endure. Neptune is magic and fairy tales, but also illusion and confusion ~ all in the same package. It always depends on how we choose to use this energy in our charts and lives.

If you're having a difficult Neptune transit ~ especially to your Sun, Moon, or an angle on your chart ~ you might feel as if your entire world is out of control. Like you're drowning or slowly sinking in quicksand. The temptation, when life is too emotionally intense, is to check out. But living your life in a drunken stupor will never erase your problems.

As Saturn in Sagittarius gears up to form a tense square to Neptune in Pisces, we'll receive a stark reminder that trying to hide from our "stuff" will only unravel us. This aspect won't be exact until November 26, 2015, and then again on June 17, 2016, and September 10, 2016. Still, for much of 2015, Saturn is creeping closely enough to square Neptune to give us a dose of reality check medicine. Evading problems or reality will become more uncomfortable for everyone.

Listen, hard times happen to all of us. There are days we all wake up thinking: "Hmmm … how much more can life possibly suck today?" These are the times in our life when it's most tempting to find an escape route, and Neptune LOVES giving us options to escape. Please remember, however, that dodging reality is never a workable solution. It's more bearable to take those difficult times in our lives and remember that they are part of a cycle ~ a cycle that has a beginning, middle and end. That's how Astrology works. It's how life works.

The truth is, nothing very good or very bad lasts for very long. But trying to act like your problems are invisible will only make the bad cycles feel worse.  The only real way to erase them is to face them.

Although the electric Aquarius New Moon at 6:47 pm EST marks the beginning of a new emotional cycle, it is stressfully aligned with the culturally shifting Uranus-Pluto square, bringing up issues of dynamic change. Additionally, the Moon and Sun both shift into surreal Pisces just moments later, corroborating the inherent instability of this New Moon.

The New Moon is a time best suited for new beginnings! For the first 48 hours following the exact time of the New Moon each month, a window of opportunity opens for making wishes that, if noted, come true in the days and months ahead. There is a tremendous amount of enthusiasm in the atmosphere, making it a great time to go forward and begin projects that you feel instinctively attracted to initiating. Spiritual Food For Thought . . . .

Recently, several comments have been directed my way about the fact that I promote Young Living Essential Oils. Therefore, I felt it necessary to set the record straight that I am indeed a distributor for Young Living.  However, as a Holistic Consultant and Spiritual & Energy Healer, I am by default a distributor for ALL products that I use or endorse. For me, it boils down to what works and what I find to be the most effective . . . . not only for my clients (people and animals), but also for myself and my own pets. The fact that Young Living is a network marketing company is a non-issue, in my opinion. Sadly, some folks have chosen the annoying, in-your-face, hyped up salesperson route to sell the products.  However, this can be the case with ANY product that involves a salesperson. All you need to do is turn on the television or open a magazine and you will witness the annoying world of overhyped sales for various products.  For example . . . . pharmaceuticals, which brings me to my next point . . . . the reason I chose Young Living to use in my personal life, (otherwise known as "My Why"), as well as in my consulting and healing practice. I have experienced far too much disappointment with our healthcare system and conventional medicine, therefore I have made it part of my life mission to seek out holistic and spiritual alternatives to a very broken health care system.

Sales, whether retail, wholesale, bartering, etc. are what make the world go 'round. I do sell my services and accompanying products for profit, and would be out of business if I did not. The services that I offer and the products that I choose to sell are carefully researched prior to being chosen. They are not chosen based on profit margin. If they were, I would not be a very successful consultant and healer, nor would I have a clear conscience on a daily basis. 

The services and products I utilize must be safe and effective for my clients, otherwise my clients will choose to go elsewhere. Therefore, the services and products I recommend are based on what is best for my clients long-term . . . . and that's the bottom line!

We are uncomfortably aware of our unfulfilled desires as Venus hooks up with wounded Chiron in elusive Pisces. Reconciliation is possible; our hearts expand if we can forgive others instead of blaming them. Meanwhile, the relationship-oriented Libra Moon reminds us that we are not isolated as the mysterious dance between self and others continues to unfold.

This is a tremendous time of transmutation. All of the prior elements are coming together for a final burst of creative output. You have seen a clear view of your own needs and the posture of significant others. Now the accumulation of that input is leading to a deep, core change within you. In this phase, you will naturally be inclined to seek higher guidance so that you can emerge from this transformation successfully.
