Introduction to Healing Oils of the Bible ~ by Dr. David Stewart, Ph.D.

Healing Versus the Practice of Medicine

This article is excerpted from Dr. David Stewart's book, Healing Oils of the Bible, in which Dr. Stewart shows us God's desire for us to have lifestyles free of disease. The purpose of this book (Healing Oils of the Bible) is to educate and inspire you to realize the infinite care and detail to which our Creator has gone to provide for us the medicines we need to heal and maintain our health. It is not for us to create these healing substances. God did that already. It is for us to tune in with His wisdom and His will and to educate ourselves in how to restore our wellness and maintain our health by the use of His natural creations. Among these Divine gifts are the oils of plants. God made them and gave us the intelligence to discover and learn how to use them.

This book (Healing Oils of the Bible) is based on both scripture and science. It is a resource and a reference book wherein the ancient and Biblical arts of healing are related to the medical sciences of today. It is not the intent of this book to diagnose, prescribe, make medical claims, to practice medicine in any form, or to encourage anyone else to do so unless they are properly licensed to perform such functions. For these things, you need to see a physician or other appropriate licensed health care professional.

Healing is a holistic spiritual term, not a medical one. The ancient priests and prophets, as well as some physicians of the Bible, anointed people with oil and prayed with them for their spiritual purification, moral repentance, and healing. So did Jesus. So did his disciples. And so did the Christians of the early church.

What Are Healing Oils?

The healing oils of the Bible are all essential or aromatic. These oils are the vital fluids of plants that are their life blood. They are called "essential" because they are necessary for the life of the plant and contain the "essence" of the plant. Essential oils contain life force, intelligence, and vibrational energy that imbues them with healing power that works for people.

Essential oils are composed of tiny molecules that can penetrate into every cell, administering healing therapy at the most fundamental levels of our bodies. They differ from the fatty oils we use for cooking. Fatty oils are composed of molecules much too large to penetrate to cellular levels. The familiar vegetable oils we use for foods have no therapeutic powers, at least not in the same ways as essential oils.

Essential oils were inhaled, applied to the body, and taken internally by the peoples of the Biblical times. Their benefits extend to every aspect of our beings: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. The ancient people of the Holy Land seemed to understand this quite well. They used aromatic oils for every purpose from maintaining wellness, to physical healing, to enhancement of spiritual states in worship, to emotional cleansing, to purification from sin.

The medicines manufactured by man cannot compare with the healing capabilities of essential oils. Man-made pharmaceuticals lack the life force, the intelligence, and the vibrational energy found in healing oils. Synthetic prescriptions all have undesirable side effects even when taken according to a doctor's directions. Some side effects can be deadly. No drug is capable of true healing. Furthermore, when more than one drug is taken at once, they work in disharmony. Dangerous inter-reactions can occur. Tens of thousands of people die every year from prescription medicines, not because they overdosed or failed to follow directions, but because such drugs are inherently dangerous. That is why only licensed doctors are allowed to prescribe them. Meanwhile, people on drugs are not cured. Instead, they find themselves trapped in a life-long dependency on drug companies and the health care system.

Compare this with essential oils. They have no serious side effects . . . none that are deadly. They can and do effect true healings. When more than one is used at once, they work in harmony. Dangerous inter-reactions do not occur. No one has ever died from a properly applied essential oil. They are inherently safe. That is why anyone can use them without the supervision or prescription of a doctor. Meanwhile, people with chronic diseases are cured and no longer need oils or any other medicine. They become free and are no longer dependent on the medical system.

The point here is that essential oils are a gift from God to us . . . his children. They are special. They have been a gift too long ignored and misunderstood. The time has come to correct those misunderstandings and bring essential oils back into the uses for which God intended them.

One Golden Rule ~ Mercury Retrograde Dos and Don'ts

Keep Moving Forward While Mercury Moves Backward . . . .

There is one golden rule when it comes to Mercury Retrograde phases. Interestingly enough, it's grammatical. If you can commit this simple tenet to memory then you will find that retrograde cycles of Mercury are not only easier to navigate, but also rich with potential for growth and personal development.

Here's the rule. Remember back in grade school when you learned about the prefix "re?" Well, a prefix is placed before the root of a word and this one means "again." All you need to remember is that during any Mercury Retrograde cycle, if you are doing something that begins with "re" such as reassess, revise, revisit, reconnect, redo, recall, resay, refresh, you are right on track. If you are not . . . . then STOP immediately . . . . or else suffer the Mercury Retrograde migraine!

Here's a top list of dos and don'ts that will help you navigate the confusion around any Mercury Retrograde phase.

DON'T initiate. DO finish what you've started.

No matter how fantastic your new plan may be, hold off on the launch while Mercury is trekking backwards. There is a high probability that you are missing crucial information or that whatever you pitch to others isn't going to sound as phenomenal to them as it does to you. Instead, use Mercury's Retrograde as a time to take stock of whatever you have already got going on and do your best to polish up and finish existing projects.

This certainly holds true for writing projects (and Mercury Retrograde is a perfect time to edit and revise work). However, it also applies to all areas of your life, from work, money and relationships. Usually, it is best to not start a new job, get married or begin a new financial chapter in your life now. Polish up your resume, plan your wedding or research investments instead.

Remember the Golden Rule!

DON'T purchase big ticket items. DO comparison shop.

You should not purchase any big ticket item such as a car, computer, appliance or even a piece of jewelry during Mercury's retrograde for several reasons. First, if it has moving or electronic parts, there is a good chance that you'll find a glitch. Repairs are fine (and a perfect prefix) on existing equipment . . . . however, no one should have to repair a brand new item! In addition, during Mercury retrograde you might not receive the best bargain if you rush to purchase. If you can wait for your item, it will be wiser to shop after Mercury is direct. In the meantime, comparison shop and spend more time thinking about what you really want. You might find that you have changed your mind completely by the time Mercury turns direct!

DON'T sign contracts, make verbal agreements or life altering decisions. DO renegotiate, mediate and reconsider existing ones.

This might be the most widely known tip about Mercury Retrograde, but it bears clarification. If at all possible, avoid new agreements! Because once you sign the dotted line or give that handshake, you will likely find that a series of events or misunderstandings cause the initial pact to change or fall apart. Instead, this is a good time to consider a renegotiation. Is your lease up for renewal on your apartment? Now is the time to either shop around or do research on a better agreement to propose to your landlord once Mercury turns direct.

Are you considering asking for a raise? Use this cycle to recognize what you are worth but also to reevaluate whether or not you are offering your best to the company you work for. If you are not, now is the time to implement revisions. Are you ready to break up with your lover? Even if your mind is made up, you will want to wait. A life altering decision implemented under Mercury retrograde has a waffling effect. You might go through a "make up and break up" phase that is exhausting. If you want a clean break and you are sure, wait until Mercury is direct. There will be no confusion or second guessing!

DON'T hide under a rock and stop living. DO expect delays and snafus.

Preparation and patience are key during Mercury Retrograde cycles. If, for example, you have a trip planned and you notice it is during a Mercury Retrograde, do not cancel your plans and stop living! Instead, consider the added potential for mishaps and prepare accordingly. Recheck your baggage to ensure you have packed everything vital. Make sure you have all the proper documentation for your trip. Anticipate delays due to the added issue of miscommunication. In other words, prepare to just roll with it!

In short, Mercury Retrograde cycles are not meant to be the source of endless aggravation. However, if you go against the flow of this cycle you're likely to experience more stress. Taking pause every now and then allows us to gain a new perspective and realize what we might have missed in the past. Now we get a chance to fix it and become even stronger because of it ... thank you, Mercury Retrograde!

Today's Solar Eclipse is a cosmic punctuation mark that signals a clean break in the emotional energy. The analytical Virgo New Moon at 2:41 am EDT eclipses the Sun to momentarily stop our logical train of thought. Nevertheless, we're too impatient for our own good with instantaneous Uranus in the mix, and we want useful information available to us at a moment's notice. The Moon shifts into gracious Libra at 10:40 pm to help settle our nerves.

The New Moon is a time best suited for new beginnings! For the first 48 hours following the exact time of the New Moon each month, a window of opportunity opens for making wishes that, if noted, come true in the days and months ahead.
